  • Simple terrain generation using midpoint displacement
  • u/iverjo
    Nice alternative to perlin noise!
  • u/sigveseb
Very nice! And with the horizontal flat line we can pretend that is the sea level; everything above is a mountain and everything below is the sea :)

  • Splits 1920px×1056px canvas into 20×11 grid of 96px×96px tiles. Once every 9 frames fills a random tile black or white. Every frame picks a random 2×2 group of tiles and draws it onto a random 1×1 tile at ½ the size.

  • u/pavel
    Very nice.
  • u/pavel
    117 and instant draw t||x[f='fillRect'](0,0,i=2e3,i);for(x.fillStyle='#9D0';i;x[f](i%64*36+D,(i>>6)*36-D,32-2*D,32+2*D))D=C(--i**9)>0?2:-2
  • u/Joachim
u/pavel I don't know why but changing this (i>>6)*36-D,35-D,35+D makes a biased maze
  • u/pavel
I think thats the trick to the original dweet. It's a golfed maze with a visual filter.

    almost looks like a map!
  • u/joeytwiddle
Whoa! When I was younger I used to have nightmares about this damn thing. I would clean it all away but then it would come creeping back. Weird that you found it in 2016!

  • I would love to find a better / shorter 1D noise function #challenge
  • u/pavel
This one assigns a 'random' number to each integer k via S(k*k) and uses smoothstep to interpolate between them.
  • u/pavel
Another idea to play around with f=(i,n=9)=>n&&C(n**.5*i)/n+f(i,n-1)
