I discovered p+=r*=d(p+=r);q+=s*=d(q+=s) as part of messing around with this. Why does it work?

Oh wow, nice! That's the code that updates the position, velocity and applies collision for x and y. It needs to call the d function to check its colliding and also set the block to 1 if it does. It needs to check x and y separately so it knows which side to bounce off

p+=r*=d(p+=r) the inner p+=r increments p and d ends runs with that value, however the outer p+= caches the old value of p so when d resolves the inner p+=r is silently ignored!

The base code draws a tube. 1/S(i%h+h/2) radius makes the tube have a square cross section.

(Y*Y<8e5||Y%1) randomizes the radius between 0 and 1 near top and bottom.

I use polar coordinates, even though the radius is uniformly random that results in more dots near the middle :/

this one seems to outperform my original, probably due to all the color calls in mine. One thing I haven't been able to figure out is why the same code performs better on codegolf.tk than dwitter. Not trying to advertise, but it's true and it was just an accidental product of how it was made i guess.
