Woo! I can only see one more improvement, the ;i--; loop condition can be replaced with a="...".charCodeAt(i--), since a will be NaN when i hits -1, and NaN is falsey

Nice. You can definitely get this under the 100 char mark. One big saving: If you pack both X and Y into one char it will not only save you characters, but also save you the overhead of defining/calling a function.

You will probably want to encode the points with -32 applied before you try to bit pack them though.

Cool stuff. It breaks on capitalized letters though. Add a.keyCode==16?0: into the start of your onkeyup method, which allows the shift key to be pressed.
